Car crushes elderly couple in fatal accident caught on video

A car-wash worker in Brooklyn struck and killed an 85-year-old woman — and critically injured her 90-year-old husband — while pulling out of the drive-through Tuesday afternoon, cops said.

“He ran the lady over. He crushed her,” recalled one witness, who declined to be named.

“It was horrible. [The worker] didn’t know how to drive.”

According to police, the employee at the Marine Park car wash on Avenue U near Gerritsen Avenue had rear-ended the Honda Accord that the elderly couple arrived in as it was going through the car wash.

The pair was inspecting the damage when the worker slammed into them and then hit the reverse — and struck them both again, witnesses said.

He had initially backed up into the building in a panic after the rear-end collision before accelerating forward and nailing the man and woman just moments later, the witnesses said.

“It was like the car wanted to cut her in two,” said Greg Alfred, manager of the nearby body shop, Greg’s Auto Service. “I heard all this noise. I look up and see this woman pinned between cars. As I look further, the car left and came back and hit her again. It was horrible. It was the most horrible thing I’ve ever witnessed.”

The woman sustained severe injuries to her head and body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband was transported to Lutheran Medical Center and listed in critical condition.

Cops said the car-wash worker remained on the scene, and there were no immediate charges against him. The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
