Christian rockers ‘praise Jesus’ on packed flight – triggering a mixed response

A video of Christians bursting into song on a passenger plane to "worship Jesus at 30,000ft" has sparked quite a backlash.

In the clip, uploaded on TikTok on April 9, a man with a guitar starts to enthusiastically sing and strum in the middle of the aisle.

He is quickly joined by other plane passengers and many seem to enjoy the impromptu performance which is believed to have occurred on a flight traveling from the US to Germany.

Some people remain silent and either ignore the singing or record it on their phones.

A man wearing blue plaid appears to grimace while the woman next to him smiles.

"Worshipping Jesus at 30,000 feet in the air!" reads the exuberant on-screen text.

The video was shared on TikTok by user Jack Jensz Jr @jackjenszjr with the caption: "We are taking this flight over for Jesus!"

It was watched more than 200,000 times on the app but "liked" just 15,000 times and many people in the comments were critical and called the loud singing disruptive and selfish.

One user bluntly said: "Y’all about to meet him if you keep singing."

A second person commented: "Homey in blue plaid gonna punch the spirit out of the guitarist."

"Dude in the plaid shirt is not too happy about this," agreed a third.

"I'm five months pregnant, had to get up at 3am to catch a flight at 6am last week, this would have not been ok with me and I'm a believer," confessed someone else.

Another blasted: "Really appreciate this touching reminder of why I left the church. You don't respect anyone else."

Meanwhile, a fair few Christians commented that the singers have the "right" to praise their god and described it as "beautiful".

One said: "I think it's awesome to see the Lord praised and worshipped at all times, in all places. To me, this is amazing and wonderful."

Someone else shared: "I think it’s nice that the flight allowed them to sing and praise."
