An NHS worker who was stabbed to death outside the hospital she worked in and her daughter who was killed just minutes later were both attacked by the mum's ex.

Evil Steven Robertson attacked mum-of-four Emma Robertson Coupland in the car park of Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock at around 7.45pm on Thursday, Daily Record reports.

Medics battled to save the 39-year-old but she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Emma's daughter Nicole Anderson was then also knifed to death by Mr Robertson in nearby Portland Street just 20 minutes later.

Mr Robertson, 40, then died after a car crash on the C50, a road between the B7036 and the A76, at around 8.30pm.

Police Scotland previously said that they were examining whether the three incidents were linked but their enquiries have now concluded that they are.

Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths and say that the relatives of those involved have been informed.

Chief Superintendent Faroque Hussain said: “A number of locations remain cordoned off as officers continue to conduct enquiries.
