Jill Biden thanks organisers for ‘special’ inauguration
Jill Biden spent her first day as First Lady thanking the inauguration organisers for keeping the event safe and speaking of her optimism for the future of the US. Calling her husband Joe Biden’s election victory as “the start of a bright new chapter”, Dr Jill Biden’s message was posted on Twitter and quickly gained many positive comments saying she had “class” and “grace” in her delivery. Dr Biden also received compliments during the inauguration as watchers enjoyed her kind demeanour and presence.
In her message, Jill Biden said: “Every four years we celebrate the beginning of a presidential administration here in Washington DC.
“It’s the start of a bright new chapter for our country, a time for all of us to come together as one America.
“With one government that serves us all. And we saw that hope and optimism in our inauguration celebration.
“It was the culmination of thousands of people working together to create something incredible, especially in this uniquely difficult year.

“As a National Guard mom, I’m grateful for our service members, first responders, civil servants, who have put in hours upon hours of work to make sure that our inauguration was a reflection of the pride and promise of our nation.
“I’m grateful for the families who supported them and I’m grateful for everyone who calls this city home, who made us feel so welcome.
“Thank you for everything you’ve done to make this inauguration special, for Joe and me, but most of all, for your fellow Americans.”
Supportive tweets came flooding in with one person commenting “Jill Biden is all class”.

Another added: “I am thrilled at the fact that I truly believed what she said.”
One Twitter user was upbeat about the inauguration and said: “The inauguration was amazing, Americans are already feeling more hopeful!”
A second seemed happy about the departure of the old Trump administration and wrote: “Educated, emphatic, and well-spoken, thank god.”
Dr Jill Biden has a doctorate in educational leadership and will continue teaching writing at Northern Virginia Community College.

At Joe Biden’s toned-down inauguration on January 20, he said: “This is America’s day, this is democracy’s day, a day of history and hope, of renewal and resolve.
“Through a crucible for the ages, America has been tested anew and America has risen to the challenge.
“Today we celebrate the triumph not of a candidate but of a cause, a cause of democracy.
“The people – the will of the people – has been heard, and the will of the people has been heeded.”
