North Carolina tornado kills three and leaves 10 injured as wild weather destroys homes

A NORTH Carolina tornado has killed three and left 10 people injured as wild weather destroyed homes.

The wind storm hit the Ocean Ridge Plantation area in Brunswick County at roughly 11.50pm.

Sheriff John W. Ingram said on Tuesday morning that the storm caused "a lot of destruction" along Highway 17.

"This is something unlike I’ve ever seen," Ingram said to reporters. "It’s going to be a long recovery process."

There was a total of four reports of tornados that spawned from Winter Storm Uri.

The storm also injured three people in Panama City, Florida, and one person in Damascus, Georgia.

Homes across the three states were destroyed, with photographs showing debris strewn across the street.

Cars also appeared to obtain damage from the deadly weather conditions.
