Racegoer kicks man sprawled out on ground in head in shocking Goodwood brawl
A Goodwood racegoer kicked another man in the head as he was sprawled out on the ground during a shocking 25-man brawl.
Dramatic scenes from Saturday’s incident were filmed as a man was punched to the ground and kicked – knocking him out – while crowds shouted and swore nearby and then began throwing punches.
The force of the kick is evident by the loud noise it makes – and by the shocked reactions of witnesses.
Another man stumbled over the victim as he lay motionless at the racecourse in Chichester, West Sussex.
Screams of "he’s out," "s***" and "f***" were heard – amid muffles of "he needs medical attention!"
Concerned witnesses can be seen bending down to check if he’s OK, as he lies with his arms sprawled out.
But others are heard laughing in the background.
The fight continued around him with men dressed in suits launching punches at each other – and another seen with a bleeding nose which has left his white shirt turning crimson.
A man punches another into a wired fence, while a separate scuffle goes on by a group of trees.
A statement on the Goodwood website posted on Saturday said: "Goodwood Racecourse was informed of a disturbance during this afternoon’s racing.
"The incident was dealt with by on-event security and Sussex Police were notified as a precaution.
"On-event medical staff treated six people and the Racecourse is supporting Sussex Police with its on-going enquiries.
"Goodwood Racecourse wishes to apologise to any racegoer who was affected by this incident."
The violent video of the clash was posted on YouTube.
Tracey Elms wrote on Twitter: "Goodwood is one of the most beautiful courses and has been my favourite, but in the last two years, with the big meetings or the Friday party nights, as they call them, it has become a frightening place to be.
"You don’t see security staff walking around, only at the entrance."
Another commented: "Kicking lads in the head when down is pure scum."
One social media user called it "disgusting behaviour" while another said the fight was "f***ing horrible".
It remains unclear why the incident broke out – or what happened to any of those involved.
Mirror Online has attempted to contact Sussex Police.
