Roommate identified as suspect in dismemberment murder case
Detectives investigating the murder of a woman whose dismembered corpse was scattered about a Brooklyn park are taking a close look at a couple who knew her, police sources said Sunday.
Cops grilled a woman who lived with victim Brandy Odom in Rosedale, Queens, as well as the roommate’s boyfriend, the sources said, but let the two go once they asked to see attorneys.
Police are trying to get a search warrant for the Rosedale home and for the boyfriend’s car.
They earlier obtained surveillance footage of the man loading something suspicious into his trunk while the vehicle was parked in the home’s driveway, the sources said.
Odom’s head and torso were found by a dog walker in Canarsie Park on April 9. Police found her severed limbs in a bag in another area of the park.
Odom was identified in part by a tattoo of her nickname, “Chocolate,” on her left breast, the sources said.
Police believe the body parts were discarded only short time before they were discovered.
