Thrifty Kate dresses Charlotte and Louis in hand-me-downs for cute new photos
Our hearts melted a little bit when we saw Princess Charlotte giving her new baby brother a big loving kiss in his first official photos.
The two pictures, which were taken by mum Kate Middleton, were shared around the worlds within seconds of going live.
But eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice something familiar about the two photos – the clothes.
It seems thrifty Kate is using some of her fashion recycling magic on her children as well, as we’ve seen both the outfits before.
The little white jumper Louis is wearing in the photo of him on his own is the same one big sister Charlotte wore in her first official photos.
We can’t see exactly as the old photo of Charlotte was cropped, but it looks like he’s wearing the same little bottoms as well.
And little Louis isn’t the only one in hand-me-down clothes.
Princess Charlotte’s cute blue jumper with white detail is from big brother George’s wardrobe.
We last saw it in one of the official photos released for the Queen’s 90th birthday.
@the_british_monarchy have just released this photograph of The Queen surrounded by her two youngest grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, to mark Her Majesty's 90th birthday. This is the first in a series of three official photographs. It was taken at Windsor Castle just after Easter by renowned portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz. #HappyBirthdayYourMajesty
Kate, who is a keen amateur photographer, took the photos on Charlotte’s third birthday on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get a photo of all three Cambridge children together as George is absent from both.
Since stepping into the public spotlight Kate has been known for re-wearing a lot of her fashion pieces – something many other royals don’t do.
While she was expecting with Prince Louis she recycled a lot of her maternity clothes from her previous pregnancies.
We’ve also seen her wearing a number of her stunning dresses several times, including this red McQueen number.
Kensington Palace released the new photos at midnight on Saturday with the message: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, taken by The Duchess at Kensington Palace.
"This image was taken on 2nd May, on Princess Charlotte’s third Birthday.
"The Duke and Duchess would like to thank members of the public for their kind messages following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte’s third birthday."
Mirror photographer Ian Vogler was impressed by Kate’s photos.
He said: “It’s always hard to get a nice picture of very young children. I know from my own experiences. But the Duchess of Cambridge has done a really good job with the picture of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
“It’s a really charming image of a big sister proud of her new sibling.
“Both pictures are nicely lit with natural daylight the best way to photograph children. The picture of Prince Louis on his own is more formal looking but at the same time it’s very good.
“Just getting such a young baby to keep his eyes open is an achievement.”
