UK’s biggest ever EuroMillions winner could be made tonight after £176m jackpot
A lucky Brit could become the country's biggest Lotto winner ever on Friday.
The £176m EuroMillions Jackpot would make them richer than Robbie Williams, Calvin Harris and Eric Clapton – knocking 2019’s record-breaking £170m anonymous winner off the top spot.
It comes as Laura Hatch from Louth, Lincs, discovered she won £100,576.20 online EuroMillions win on The National Lottery.
The 27-year-old is celebrating today, Thursday, February 18, and finally looking forward to owning a home of her own.
Laura, a graphic designer and web content manager, said: "I had literally just woken up and was sitting in bed scrolling on my phone.
"[Her partner and her] We both logged into our National Lottery online accounts and Chris discovered he had won £3 in the EuroMillions draw.
"I had bought two EuroMillions Lucky Dip tickets for the same draw so I just thought I may as well check my tickets too. I quickly realised I had won something and thought it was probably £3 like Chris.
"My eyes were really tired and I couldn’t see clearly what was in front of me so I asked Chris to check for me.
"He just burst out with… you have won £100k! I said, 'no, never, something like this wouldn’t happen to us!' And he said, 'no, really, you absolutely have!' I just couldn’t believe it. We just sat looking at each other – I was totally gob-smacked – there are no other words for it!"
Laura, who moved from Essex to Lincolnshire to live closer to her family, said a deposit on a house with a garage and garden is now a top priority, together with a motorbike for Chris, 26 and a dream holiday as soon as it is allowed and safe to do so.
The couple, who currently live in a Shared Ownership house, say a new build is something they have always dreamed of owning but never believed they would be able to afford.
She added: "How many 27-year-olds can say they have enough money to put a deposit on a house? This win really is a life-changer for us. All of those things I have dreamed about can now become a reality.
"So many new opportunities have now opened up to us. It is an incredible feeling. We are both looking forward to making some very special memories together!"
Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said: "The jackpot on Friday night is truly mind-blowing! If a UK winner strikes it lucky this weekend they would become our biggest ever National Lottery winner.
"I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many players that have won big on The National Lottery and the first piece of advice I always give is not to rush. There is rarely anything that needs doing, especially right now, so take some time to plan and dream. You’ve just won mega amounts of money – allow yourself some time to get used to that fact!"
