Then together they cut alcohol out of their lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr Evans&#8217; ex-wife\u00a0Billie Piper previously described her booze-fuelled marriage to Chris Evans as being drunk &#8216;for five years with an old man&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>She said she had a lot of &#8216;baggage&#8217; to deal with when she moved into acting after her pop career fizzled out, having married Evans then aged 35 in 2001 when she was 18. &#8216;A lot of it was just tabloid fodder,&#8217; she told The Guardian.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Rather than &#8216;Oh, she was a pop star&#8217; it was more, &#8216;She was a pop star, then she got p***ed for five years with an old man.&#8217; I think that was the lasting image when I walked into an audition room.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The couple split when she was 21 and divorced in 2007, but remain close friends, she said, hailing their relationship as a happy experience.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Loved it. Loved that time. Learned so much,&#8217; she said. &#8216;Really needed it, after the experiences that I&#8217;d had, leading up to that point. And I felt like I&#8217;d actually found a real friend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I guess meeting someone who had experienced [fame] for 20 years, at that level, it was very nurturing. And also very drunken, which I needed. I had a lot of fun during those years.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Evans revealed he has stopped drinking as he also told fans he has been diagnosed with the early stages of skin cancer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/21\/14\/74557365-12428953-image-m-8_1692624165774.jpg\" height=\"991\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Mr Evans&#8217; ex-wife Billie Piper previously described her booze-fuelled marriage to Chris Evans as being drunk &#8216;for five years&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>During his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show on Monday, the presenter said that, because it was caught quickly, it is &#8216;as treatable as cancer can possibly be&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The 57-year-old told listeners: &#8216;I&#8217;ve just got to talk briefly about my biopsy for the skin cancer issue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;So, the best news that I got whilst I was away is that it was a positive test, so I have tested positive for skin cancer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Obviously better news would have been (that it was) negative. But the reason it&#8217;s great news is because they&#8217;ve caught it as early as they can, as early as is possible.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The former BBC Radio 1 and 2 presenter told listeners that he got tested because his masseuse, whom he described as an &#8216;angel sent from Heaven&#8217;, encouraged him to go after she spotted an unusual looking freckle on his skin.<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8216;Because they caught it so early, it&#8217;s as treatable as cancer can possibly be to the extent that&#8230; some specialists refer to it as &#8216;stage zero&#8217; or &#8216;pre-cancer&#8217;.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He said the next step is for him to get &#8216;a square of skin taken off&#8217; on September 14.<\/p>\n<p>The broadcaster added that he has thanked his masseuse for &#8216;potentially saving my life&#8217; and urged others to get any symptoms examined.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Just check yourself for stuff, as you get older especially, on your skin, on your bits and your bobs,&#8217; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Just keep checking, because the biggest weapon in your arsenal, in our our collective arsenal against things that are out to get us is early detection.
