Police have cordoned off an area of Trafalgar Square in London following reports of a man stood on the roof of the National Gallery.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Met Police\u00a0were called to the famous tourist attraction at 2:35pm today after a man was reported on the roof of the building in a ‘distressed condition’.<\/p>\n
Police officers and members of the London Ambulance Service have attended the scene and are attempting to make contact with the man.<\/p>\n
The Met said that local roads have been closed as a ‘precuation’ while the National Gallery has also been evacuated.\u00a0<\/p>\n
City of Westminster Police has advised people to avoid the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The National Gallery posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the venue had been temporarily closed<\/p>\n
A Met Police spoeksperson said: ‘Police were called at 14:35hrs on Tuesday, 22 August to The National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, WC2.<\/p>\n
‘A man was reported on the roof in a distressed condition.<\/p>\n
‘The London Ambulance Service have also attended and are attempting to make contact with the man.<\/p>\n
‘Officers have attended and local roads have been closed as a precaution.’<\/p>\n
The National Gallery posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the venue had been temporarily closed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It said: ‘Due to an ongoing incident, we’ve temporarily closed the National Gallery, including Summer on the Square.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘We’ll keep you updated about when we’re able to reopen.’<\/p>\n
