{"id":214047,"date":"2023-09-06T16:19:48","date_gmt":"2023-09-06T16:19:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bestwnews.com\/?p=214047"},"modified":"2023-09-06T16:19:48","modified_gmt":"2023-09-06T16:19:48","slug":"terror-suspect-escaped-jail-by-sneaking-out-of-kitchen-and-clinging-on-to-van","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bestwnews.com\/world-news\/terror-suspect-escaped-jail-by-sneaking-out-of-kitchen-and-clinging-on-to-van\/","title":{"rendered":"Terror suspect escaped jail by &#8216;sneaking out of kitchen and clinging on to van&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A British soldier and terrorism suspect who escaped from jail did so by &quot;sneaking out of a kitchen and clinging onto a van,&quot; according to reports.<\/p>\n<p> Daniel Abed Khalife, a serving member of the British Army who is awaiting trial for terror and Official Secrets Act offences, escaped from Wandsworth prison on Wednesday morning, the Metropolitan Police said. <\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the Prison Service said they are &apos;urgently investigating how he escaped&apos;, but would not comment on claims he left via a kitchen and clung onto a van.<\/p>\n<p>It is believed he got out at approximately 07:50hrs after he caught the unofficial ride, The Sun reported.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30879292.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_UK-HMP-Wandsworth-Prisoner-Arrival-SERCO.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Later on a &quot;national incident&quot; was declared and Border Control were on high alert after a dictat issued by the Counter Terrorism Command.<\/p>\n<p>A Met Police press release reads: &quot;Khalife was on remand at HMP Wandsworth, awaiting trial in relation to terrorism and Official Secrets Act offences. From our initial enquiries, it is believed he escaped from the prison at approximately 07.50am.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Khalife was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, red and white chequered trousers and brown steel toe cap boots.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;He is of slim build, has short brown hair and is around 6ft 2ins tall. Khalife has links to the Kingston area.
