A teenage boy will face court over the alleged abduction and armed robbery of a schoolboy from Glen Eira College on Monday, as the student remains in hospital with serious injuries.<\/p>\n
Police charged a 14-year-old boy with multiple offences overnight, including armed robbery and intentionally causing serious injury.<\/p>\n

Police increased their presence on streets around Glen Huntly this week.<\/span>Credit: <\/span>Joe Armao<\/cite><\/p>\n The charges relate to an attack on a 14-year-old Glen Eira College student, who was walking home from school with a friend on Monday when he was abducted from the street. He was ejected from a moving vehicle a short time later.<\/p>\n The victim was taken to the Royal Children\u2019s Hospital with what police described as \u201clife-altering\u201d head injuries. He remains in a serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n Victoria Police Inspector Scott Dwyer said the teenager \u2013 who he described as a \u201cknown gang member\u201d \u2013 was arrested in Frankston just before 2.30pm on Thursday.<\/p>\n He also said all offenders connected to the Glen Huntly abduction had been identified, and more arrests were imminent over the next few days.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Victoria Police mounted branch patrolled the streets around Glen Eira College this week.<\/span>Credit: <\/span>Nine News<\/cite><\/p>\n Investigators will examine whether the alleged abduction is linked to other incidents recently reported in the area, including the armed robbery of four students in Glen Huntly moments before the alleged abduction at Glen Eira College.<\/p>\n On Thursday, Dwyer said: \u201cWe want to reassure our community, especially for the mums and dads and kids, that they are safe to walk to school.\u201d<\/p>\n Dwyer also said police had identified 598 youth gang members belonging to 44 gangs, but noted this was \u201csignificantly down on where we were three years ago\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have made a significant arrest … and I would anticipate in the hours that follow and the days that follow, there will be further arrests that will give us some comfort that the incidences we saw have been addressed.\u201d<\/p>\n The 14-year-old boy also faces charges including armed robbery, robbery, conduct endangering life, intentionally causing serious injury, theft of a motor vehicle, theft, possessing a controlled weapon, committing an indictable offence on bail and numerous other offences.<\/p>\n He has been remanded to appear at a children\u2019s court at a later date.<\/p>\n Anyone who witnessed either incident, has CCTV or dashcam footage or any other information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au<\/p>\n The Morning Edition newsletter is our guide to the day\u2019s most important and interesting stories, analysis and insights. <\/i><\/b>Sign up here<\/i><\/b>.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\nMost Viewed in National<\/h2>\n
