Russell Brand has said he denies ‘serious allegations’ he claims are being made against him<\/p>\n
In a video entitled ‘So, This Is Happening’ on his YouTube channel, the actor and TV personality started speaking about “aggressive attacks” being made against him.<\/p>\n
“This is not the usual type of video where we critique attack and undermine the news in all its corruption, because in this story, I am the news,” he begins by saying.<\/p>\n
The 48-year-old claims he has received an “extremely disturbing” letter and email from a mainstream media TV company and a newspaper listing “a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks”.<\/p>\n
He says: “Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque, attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.”<\/p>\n
READ MORE: <\/strong> Russell Brand’s net worth – how the comedian makes his millions<\/strong><\/p>\n Brand explains that the allegations concern a time years ago when he was working in movies and the mainstream media.<\/p>\n He continues: “These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies. And as I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous.<\/p>\n “During that time of promiscuity the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent. And I’m being transparent about it now as well.<\/p>\n “And to see that transparency metastasise into something criminal that I absolutely deny makes me question if there is another agenda at play.<\/p>\n “I don’t mind them using my books and my stand up to talk about my promiscuous, consensual conduct in the past. What I seriously refute are these very, very serious criminal allegations.<\/p>\n “Also it’s worth mentioning there are witnesses whose evidence directly contradicts the narratives these two mainstream outlets are trying to construct, apparently in what seems to me to be a co-ordinated attack.<\/p>\n “I don’t want to get into this any further because of the serious nature of the allegations but I feel like I’m being attacked and plainly they are working very closely together.<\/p>\n We are obviously going to look into this matter because it is very, very serous. In the meantime I want you to stay close, stay awake but more importantly than any of that, if you can, please stay free.”<\/p>\n This comes on the day where Channel 4 revealed they are set to highlight behaviour by an A-list celebrity in a Dispatches investigation, which is scheduled to air at 9pm on Saturday night.<\/p>\n It is not yet known what will be revealed in the episode, but it is said to be potentially damaging.<\/p>\n One TV insider said: “This programme has been years in the making and is being edited up to the last minute.”<\/p>\n Channel 4 declined to comment on the contents of the Dispatches.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/79\/590x\/secondary\/Russell-4962778.jpg?r=1694849261221\")
