Art lovers who feel comfortable in their skin were given the unique chance to attend a guided tour completely naked.

The Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia in Barcelona held on Sunday a 90-minute tour in collaboration with the Catalan Naturism Club which could be attended without clothes.

The nudists viewed a photographic exhibition showing Luigi Spina’s pictures of the Bronzes of Riace.

The subjects of the snaps are famous Greek bronze statues discovered in 1972 in the sea near Riace, in southern Italy.

The exhibition was an apt choice, given the 5th century BC statues – of immense importance for the study of ancient art as they are two of the few surviving full-size ancient Greek bronzes – depict fully naked warriors.

Speaking about the tour, the website of the Catalan museum said visitors would get the chance to “admire the works by posing in the same situation as they are, completely naked and surrounded by other bodies”.

The Catalan Naturism Club announced earlier this month when its first nudist tour would take place.

A post on Instagram said about the initiative: “A great experience where there will be a brief review of nudity in the history of art and with a final debate on nudity today.”

A similar experiment featuring naked visitors had already been carried out at The Louvre Museum in Paris, the Olive Press wrote.

Public nudity has been legal in Spain since 1988 and is practised by many in Catalonia among other regions.

Several beaches across the Mediterranean country are popular with nudists – including Playa Nudista Vera, located in the province of Almeria.
