<\/p>\nDarts GOAT Phil Taylor says he would be open to investing in Port Vale with popstar pal Robbie Williams.<\/p>\n
The Take That<\/i> idol is reportedly interested in ploughing cash into his beloved Vale, who currently play in League One. Williams says he has been inspired by the impact Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have had since buying Wrexham, with the Welsh club winning the National League last season and now challenging for another promotion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ryan Reynolds thing is intoxicating,\u201d he said via The Sun. \u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful story. It\u2019s fascinating. It\u2019s a fairytale. I\u2019d like to be involved in something like that. My big love in football is Port Vale, a very small team in the UK, so somewhere down the line, I\u2019ll have something to do with it.\u201d <\/p>\n

Fellow Vale fan Taylor, who has just announced he will fully retire from darts in 2024, has been quizzed on a potential link-up with Williams at Vale Park and says he would consider it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWould I invest in Port Vale? I don\u2019t know. I\u2019m friends with Robbie, but he\u2019s never mentioned anything to me,\u201d he told talkSPORT this morning (Wednesday). \u201cBut if he asked me, I\u2019d probably consider it, yeah. I might even get a game with my dodgy hip!<\/p>\n

\u201cI only lived about half a mile from the ground as a boy. My dad was a fan and he used to lift me over the turnstiles because he couldn\u2019t afford to pay.\u201d<\/p>\n
Surprisingly, Taylor admitted he also roots for Vale\u2019s arch-rivals, Stoke City, as well. He said: \u201cI do look at the Stoke results and like them to win. I want the whole Stoke crew and Vale to win if they can. I have a little bet on them each Saturday, but I never get paid out very often.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor, who stepped away from the PDC darts after losing in the final of the 2018 World Championship, has been playing on the World Seniors Tour in recent times, but next year will be his last on the circuit.<\/p>\n
The 16-time world champion said: \u201cI\u2019ll always love performing to the best of my ability, but time waits for no man and I know now is the right time to step away from the Tour. It\u2019s been an unbelievable journey over the past 35 years and I\u2019ve loved every minute of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
