Single two-mile stretch now has EIGHT speed changes after Mark Drakeford&#8217;s hated 20mph restrictions were rolled out<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>READ MORE: New report calls for Ulez-style congestion charge in Cardiff<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A single road in Wales has eight speed limit changes in less than two miles after Mark Drakeford&#8217;s hated 20mph restrictions were rolled out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One 30mph limit stretch of the\u00a0A4222 in\u00a0Aberthin,\u00a0Vale of Glamorgan, is 520ft (160m) long &#8211; reportedly taking just 14 seconds to drive through.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Vale of Glamorgan council said the road&#8217;s speed limits aligned with Welsh government legislation but it would be added to a list of sites to review.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The restrictions were put in place after Wales changed its default speed limits from 30mph to 20mph in September this year, sparking\u00a0uproar from furious commuters\u00a0across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The road in\u00a0Aberthin also includes shifts from 40mph to 60mph in the space of just 1.8miles (2.9km) &#8211; with\u00a0each new road sign costing around \u00a31,000 to install.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Local villager Aberthin Williams told the BBC:\u00a0&#8216;It&#8217;s a complete anomaly, it makes no sense whatsoever.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/28\/12\/78321207-12799133-image-a-17_1701173359641.jpg\" height=\"544\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>A single road in Wales has eight speed limit changes in less than two miles after Mark Drakeford&#8217;s hated 20mph restrictions were rolled out<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/28\/09\/78315717-12799133-image-a-3_1701164587981.jpg\" height=\"387\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>One 30mph limit stretch of the A4222 (pictured) in Aberthin, Vale of Glamorgan, is 520ft (160m) long &#8211; reportedly taking just 14 seconds to drive through<\/p>\n<p>She added: &#8216;It takes your mind off paying attention to other drivers and taking your eyes off the road as you&#8217;re looking at the speedometer.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Peter Williams, who walks his dog through the area, said: &#8216;It&#8217;s totally confusing with so many speed changes on the stretch of road.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The council revealed the cost to fit a standard posts and signs adds up to an average of\u00a0\u00a31,044.52.<\/p>\n<p>The cost of the policy throughout Wales is so far around\u00a0\u00a334.4million &#8211; with\u00a0Vale of Glamorgan council revealing\u00a0it spent \u00a31,854,573.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The council said:\u00a0&#8216;All new default 20mph roads and those that have remained at 30mph will be reviewed after a suitable bedding in period has passed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The council will add the above location to its list of sites to review.
