After a huge Christmas meal, it’s all too tempting to undo your belt a notch to make way for all that overindulgence.<\/p>\n
But loosening your trousers at the dinner table is among the worst faux pas we make at Christmas, a survey reveals.<\/p>\n
Forgetting to wrap your gifts \u2013 or frankly, being too lazy to do so \u2013 is another no-no that happens all too often.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Knowing your limit is important too \u2013 as one in seven of us admit to drinking more than we should on the big day.<\/p>\n

The survey of 2,000 people, commissioned by tobacco-free nicotine company Haypp, found that a staggering one in five of us will loosen our waistbands during Christmas dinner.<\/p>\n
And a quarter of us confess to donning a cheesy jumper on December 25 \u2013 just like Colin Firth in Bridget Jones’s Diary.<\/p>\n
A further 15 per cent even add Christmassy accessories such as a headband or earrings. Equally egregious is leaving the dinner table for a cigarette, which 10 per cent of us do, while one in 20 even vape inside other people’s homes.<\/p>\n
Other blunders include regifting and failing to bring a courtesy present for the host.<\/p>\n
Etiquette expert Laura Ceccherini-Windsor said: ‘Unbuttoning your trousers is certainly not an elegant gesture.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Christmas is always an eventful time and your faux pas will not be easily forgotten!\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘So it is better to pace yourself.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
She said of cheesy jumpers: ‘It is always lovely to communicate your enthusiasm and positivity but as you fumble through your jumper drawer remember that less is always more.’<\/p>\n
