A next-generation Nintendo console is on the way and it could let you play all your Nintendo Switch games with ease.<\/p>\n

That's at least according to Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, who has given his biggest hint yet that the firm is working on a successor to the Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n

According to Japanese gaming analyst Genki, Mr Furukawa told Nintendo shareholders that the firm plans 'to make a smooth transition for customers from Nintendo Switch to the next-generation console by using the Nintendo Account'.<\/p>\n

This likely means that Switch gamers will be able to move over the games they already own, as well as any save files, to the next Nintendo console using the company's online service.<\/p>\n

Mr Furukawa added: "As for the transition from Nintendo Switch to the next generation machine, we want to do as much as possible in order to smoothly transition our customers, while utilising the Nintendo Account."<\/p>\n

This could mean that the next Nintendo console has some degree of backwards compatibility with the Switch, although this has not been clarified or confirmed in any way by Nintendo.<\/p>\n

If Nintendo did deliver this, it would satisfy countless fans who have been calling out for backwards compatibility on the next console. <\/p>\n
