Holly Madison, 43, known for her romance with Hugh Hefner and her Playboy covers has opened up about her recent health diagnosis.<\/p>\n

The Playboy star admitted she was diagnosed with autism earlier this year, and it helped her explain why she was different from others when she was younger.<\/p>\n

She explained she has “high executive functioning autism”, adding: “It’s not as extreme as for other people. So I’m not a spokesperson for everybody.<\/p>\n

“They call it a spectrum for a reason.”<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Talking To Death podcast, Holly said she can do her day-to-day things “normally”, but has spent most of her entire life introverted and not comfortable in busy situations.<\/p>\n

She continued: “I can apologize to people if I interrupt or talk over them and tell them why.”<\/p>\n

As a child, she thought one of the reasons she was different was that she grew up in Alaska and then moved to Oregon.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2021 Madison wondered if she had Asperger’s syndrome, a term no longer used and considered part of the larger autism spectrum disorder.<\/p>\n

She said: “I think because I’m more quiet, I’ve only recently learned to make eye contact.<\/p>\n

“I’m often in my own thoughts, things like that, so people take that as offensive.<\/p>\n

“They’re like, ‘Damn, you’re not super interested in me, f*** you!’<\/p>\n

“They think I’m, like, stuck up or snobby or think I’m better than everybody else.”<\/p>\n
