Antony hits back at Man Utd legends for 'malicious and unfair' criticism but admits team are 'UNSTABLE' this season | The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED winger Antony has hit back at pundits who have made "unfair and malicious" comments about him.

The 23-year-old has struggled for confidence amid United's poor run of form this season.

His performances have come under scrutiny by several pundits and former players since the start of the campaign, including the likes of Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes.

And now Antony has responded to his critics, arguing that they never offered him any support through "a period of turbulence" and instead continued to make "unfair" comments.

In an interview with The United Stand, the Brazil international said: "Today, I see criticism coming from former club players and other people in the media, who unreasonably express their opinions and influence thousands of fans, sometimes even when I do not play.

"But I've never seen them give constructive criticism, which will help me be a better professional.

"None of them have ever sent me a message to see how I am feeling, especially during this period of turbulence that I am going through."

He added: "I would like to know how these people who make these unfair and malicious criticisms fared in my place."

Antony then went on to admit that Man Utd are "unstable".

He said: "The season is not as good as we wanted; we are unstable. But we lost a lot of injured players, fundamental pieces for Erik Ten Hag's chess.

"With the return of part of the squad, we will improve, and results will improve."

Antony joined Man Utd in a £85.5million transfer from Ajax last summer.

He has since made 58 appearances across all competitions.

United legend Neville slammed the winger for his attitude during the Manchester Derby in October, branding him "embarrassing".

After Antony hit out at City winger Jeremy Doku, Neville said: "That's absolutely ridiculous, that's a sending off.
