Nigel Farage has been given immunity from skydiving into the I’m A Celebrity jungle due to injuries he sustained in a terrifying plane crash in 2010.
ITV bosses signed him on the understanding that he would not be able to carry out some tasks, including ones that involve lifting heavy weights. He also avoided the plank challenge.
Mr Farage, 59, who was left injured so badly 13 years ago that he underwent a neck reconstruction and had his leg in a plaster cast for a year, will also be ruled out of doing some of the forthcoming Bushtucker Trials if they put his medical welfare at risk.
He was also involved in a serious road accident 38 years ago. A source close to the former Ukip leader said, said: ‘Nigel can’t do strenuous activity because he’s been in a car crash, as well as the plane crash and he’s had his neck reconstructed.
‘Some of the stars will be going in by jumping out of an aeroplane but there is no way he can do that. He was left so badly injured and there are some things that would be dangerous for him to take on.’

Instead of jumping out of the plane like campmates have in previous years, Mr Farage was sent to take part in a desert challenge with This Morning presenter Josie Gibson, 38, and TikTok sensation Nella Rose, 26.
Revealing his limitations in the jungle beforehand, Mr Farage told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Well, anything involving weight lifting, I’d be out because I’ve obviously had some quite serious physical injuries and neck reconstructions and goodness knows what else.’
Mr Farage underwent a major spinal operation following the accident 13 years ago when his light aircraft, towing a Vote Ukip banner that accidentally wrapped around the tail and rudder during the flight, nosedived to the ground, injuring him and the pilot. His car accident occurred in 1985 when he was hit by a Volkswagen Beetle while on a pelican crossing.
In 2013, Farage revealed that he had an operation, saying he had ‘a couple of discs removed from my neck and replaced,’ though his neck was already weak from the car crash.
In 2016 Mr Farage was involved in a high-speed road accident while driving home from Brussels.
Initially Mr Farage suspected his car had been tampered with but a mechanic later quashed these claims and revealed it was the result of poor repair work.
