Pedestrian killed in horror crash on M62 as man arrested for causing death by dangerous driving | The Sun

A PEDESTRIAN has been killed in a horror crash on the M62 with one man arrested for causing death by dangerous driving.

Cops scrambled to the scene near Salford, Manchester at around 12.15am today after reports of a bad collision on the busy motorway.


But despite the best efforts of emergency services, an adult male was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been taken to custody for further questioning.

Cops confirmed that enquiries are ongoing at this stage with a stretch of the motorway fully shut this morning.

A Greater Manchester Police statement read: "The M62 between Eccles and Birchwood will be closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed through the morning while officers conduct their investigations.

"Alternative diversions are being put in place, please avoid the area."

Drivers have been urged to take a different route while police work on the scene.

Traffic is also queuing along the A57 Manchester Road as traffic diverts, according to Inrix.
