A horrified onlooker was heard shouting: "She is about to fall down", as the men tried to reach her.
The Ferris wheel – which is 40ft (12m) high – was still going around at the time.
Thankfully, she was unhurt after the drama, which was captured in a 16-second video clip, at Mansbal Park, in the Ganderbal district, of Central Kashmir, India.
One witness said: “There were nearly 15 students enjoying the ride when the girl fell down through a crack of the bucket. She managed to grab the iron bars of the bucket which allowed workers to stop the ride.”
Another bystander claimed the girl lost her balance after the ride appeared to speed up.
Reports say the girl was on a class trip to the circus with 14 other pupils.
An investigation into the incident by local authorities is ongoing.
