The interview saw Sawyer quiz Spears, then 21, on her recent split from Justin Timberlake amid rumors she had cheated on him.
Sawyer asked Spears: ‘He’s gone on television and pretty much said you broke his heart, you did something that caused him so much pain. What did you do?’
Britney replied: ‘We’re both really young. It was kind of waiting to happen. I will always love him.
‘Everyone has a side of their story and to make them feel a certain way, make them feel, you know… I’m not saying he’s wrong and I’m not saying he’s right either.’

‘I can’t just have meaningless relationships with women. I have to find Miss Right in order to have a relationship. There’s got to be that big moment when she comes along.’
This comes after Spears confirmed in her memoir that she had cheated on Timberlake by kissing choreographer Wade Robson – before coming clean to her beau and the pair ‘moving past it.’
