Madonna fans beg her to start shows on time as second gig is cut short
Furious Madonna fans beg singer to start her shows on time as Celebration Tour’s second London date is cut short after her late arrival: ‘This is not what we paid a lot of money for’
Madonna fans were left feeling ‘deflated’ on Sunday after she cut her Celebration Tour show short for the second time.
The singer, 65, was performing at London’s O2 Arena when her gig came to an abrupt end at 11pm, missing out four songs on her setlist.
It’s believed the show was cut short because it ran over the venue’s curfew, which states that events in the arena finish no later than 11pm Monday-Saturday and no later than 10.30pm on Sunday.
During the show, Madonna sent temperatures soaring as she hit the stage in satin lingerie and writhed on stage with a whole host of topless dancers.
Yet it came to an abrupt end following a performance of Rain, with ‘gutted’ fans missing out on the chance to hear Like A Virgin, B***h I’m Madonna, Holiday and show closer Celebration.
Oh dear: Madonna fans were left feeling ‘deflated’ on Sunday after she cut her Celebration Tour show short for the second time at London’s O2 Arena
Furious fans pointed out that Madonna would have had time to complete her two-hour show if she’d appeared on stage earlier, with fans still waiting for her to appear at 9pm.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, they vented their frustration at being ‘robbed of a finale’ after paying up to £1300 for tickets.
Concertgoers fumed: ‘@Madonna please start a bit earlier for your next two @TheO2 shows! Cutting the end of your show is short changing your loyal fans! We all know you’re a rule breaker, so if you run over break the rules and pay the fine! #MadonnaCelebrationTour’; ‘The show was the best thing I’ve ever seen. However, she had to cut the show short and ended with rain due to curfew #MadonnaCelebrationTour’
‘@Madonna what a beautiful concert, even after she was late on stage. Disappointed the show was cut short really really gutted about the ending #MadonnaCelebrationTour #o2dome’;
‘Night 2 of #TheCelebrationTour and Madonna seemed on better form tonight. Happier, more confident and moving much more fluidly. Last couple of songs cut short due to The o2’s curfew but she was amazing. Hats off to the Queen ❤️ #MadonnaCelebrationTour’;
‘Very mixed feelings about #MadonnaCelebrationTour last night. The show we got was great but it started v late & therefore we were robbed of a finale /encore. Rain was a terrible song to end on & I left feeling deflated. Not what I & the fans paid a lot of money for.”
‘Where is Madonna?? Supposed 1030 curfew at O2 and it’s 846’; ‘@Madonna get on stage on time, especially in London with the curfew. You can not be charging 1000s for tickets then doing part of the show. @guyoseary get this under control.’;
‘Madonna is actually brilliant live. HOWEVER she’s literally just said bye London and the lights came on and now she owes the o2 30 grand for going over curfew ‘; ‘It must be bc of the curfew, she ended 11pm exact. But tbh this is bad, I’m sorry Madonna you are the queen of pop and I love you. But people are paying over 1000,- to see you, you can’t end like this. Just start on time your fans deserve the full show’;
‘I’ve seen @Madonna live twice on 2 different tours. Both times she started so late the show got cut off before the finish. Typical. Other than that, I enjoyed it. We even got a bit of ‘Don’t cry for me Argentina’.’

MailOnline has contacted Madonna’s representatives and an O2 spokesperson for comment.
It was the second show to go awry after Saturday’s gig came to a screeching halt after just the fourth song, which was her hit Burning Up, when technical problems with the sound surfaced.

Being the consummate pro, the singer-songwriter took control of the situation and announced her crew would have to ‘press the reset button’.
‘This is exactly what you don’t want to happen on your opening night, so this wasn’t planned, I’m sorry,’ the pop superstar told the fans, according to Metro.
With time to kill, Madonna (born Madonna Louise Ciccone) proceeded to entertain the audience with stories of her youth, as a means keep the show from descending into chaos.
She recalled how difficult life had become while playing in her first band, described her situation as being ‘broke and hungry and making zero cash’, but she was still optimistic and could ‘see the future.’
Trying to keep the crowd from becoming restless, she asked the thousands in attendance with enthusiasm: ‘Am I imagining this?
‘Oh my God, it is so good to be back London.’
The Holiday singer added: ‘I’m pretty damned surprised that I made it this far and I mean that on so many levels.
‘How did I make it this far? Because of you. I’m going to take a bit of credit too.’
The Celebration Tour takes Madonna through Europe until December 6, when she returns to London’s O2 Arena for two more shows.
The pop superstar then heads to North America on December 13 with three shows at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
She will move around the U.S. and Canada until April 15, and then head to Mexico City, Mexico for the final four show of the tour that ends on April 24.
The tour was originally scheduled to kick off in North American in June but she was forced to postpone the shows after she was hospitalised with a serious bacterial infection.
This is Madonna’s first tour since her Madame X shows, which ended in 2020.
She was criticised for her timekeeping during the tour, and one occasion furious fans were left waiting for three hours.
