According to Lucy, Mary would often call round when she was visiting the village and her old haunts.
Telling the publication: ‘She’ll come over and have a cup of tea. When we moved in, she hosted a party to introduce us to all of the neighbours. They are all very friendly’.
Mary reportedly opted to ‘downsize’ in 2017 and moved with husband Paul Hunnings to a £2.6M property due to it being ‘closer to Waitrose’.
The new sprawling four bedroom property in Henley comes complete with a separate cottage, double garage with gym, tennis court and an indoor pool boasting a swim-up bar and giant palm tree mural.
Costing £2.6 million – £400,000 less than the original asking price – the move also ensures the star and her husband of 57 years, will be able to enjoy their twilight years in comfort.
Crucially, however, the new pad boasts one other essential feature: it is a mere eight minutes from the nearest Waitrose.
A source told MailOnline at the time: ‘She is really excited about being closer to a Waitrose, and has already worked out she is only an eight-minute walk away.
‘They have got builders in at the moment and are having lots of work done, and are hoping to move in around Christmas.’

Mary herself has opened up about her experiences letting it loose at the iconic party venue in the past.

Incredible: He recalled that the baking legend enjoyed the night at famed club Pacha and even had a boogie
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’s Dish podcast, she recalled one visit, saying: ‘I can remember thinking this is terribly exciting, and I can remember going up the steps into Pacha where somebody came forward and stamped you.
‘I’d never been stamped before, I thought, will it ever come off? It was like a rabbit warren. It was narrow and there were lots of floors and lots of paths, and everybody was drinking and smoking.
‘It suddenly struck me that if there was a fire, would we ever get out? But even so – it was good fun.’
