Sam Newman calls Chrissie Swan 'unprofessional' and a 'coward'

Sam Newman calls Chrissie Swan ‘unprofessional’ and a ‘coward’ after she said he was one of the worst interviews she’d ever had

Sam Newman has eviscerated media personality Chrissie Swan after she claimed interviewing him was the ‘worst experience’ of her broadcasting career.

Swan, 49, sparked a war of words with the ex-AFL star, 77, on Monday during her podcast The Chrissie Swan Show, after she recalled clashing with Newman while interviewing him for Nova FM’s breakfast show a few years ago.

The interview was ‘terrible’ so she left the studio in tears and they couldn’t air it.

Newman has since hit back in an interview with News Corp, accusing Swan of acting ‘unprofessionally’ by inviting him onto her show, only to storm out over a disagreement.

‘What a coward to ask someone to come in, then walk out of the studio about an opinion over a topic we were talking about,’ he told the publication on Tuesday.

‘I just gave my opinion and she walked out, how unprofessional. What a coward.’

The ex-Footy Show host then challenged Swan’s version of events, saying: ‘I have no doubt they [Nova FM] didn’t put it to air because they didn’t want to embarrass her, I never abused her, she was out to get to me.’

While the cause of their on-air disagreement is unknown, Newman did accuse Swan of having a ‘preposterous position’ on the ‘topical affairs’ that were being discussed.

He then bizarrely branded Swan as an ‘untalented’ person who is ‘clinging’ to fame.

Swan’s interview with Newman took place while she was still co-hosting Nova FM Melbourne’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny show, which ran from 2016 to 2022.

Swan, who has interviewed hundreds of celebrities throughout her long TV and radio career, spoke of her run-in with Newman during her podcast on Monday, saying it was ‘hands down the worst experience’ she’s ever had working in media.

Swan’s co-host Jack Charles, who was a producer on Chrissie, Sam and Browny, added: ‘I remember you walking out of the studio, out of the station, and I was like, ‘Where’s Swanny gone?’ And we couldn’t even air the audio.’

‘It was absolutely the worst by far. It was a terrible, terrible situation and so unusual in my career to feel so attacked. It was terrible,’ Swan replied.
