Tyson Fury dubbed Oleksandr Usyk an ‘ugly little sausage man’ as he hurled insults at his Ukrainian opponent ahead of their press conference confirming their long-awaited clash.

The Gypsy King was due to tussle with Uysk on December 23 after nearly a year’s worth of negotiations between the two camps.

But plans were hurriedly rescheduled after Fury was put to the test against Francis Ngannou in October’s ‘Battle of the Baddest’ in Riyadh.

The MMA star took the British fighter the distance in 10 rounds, even dropping the lineal heavyweight champion to the canvas – but Fury eventually saw off his opponent to claim victory by split decision.

Fury and Usyk – who was ringside to watch his foe’s less-than-perfect performance in Saudi Arabia – are set to confirm a new date for their meeting at a press conference on Thursday afternoon, thought to be February 17.

The two heavyweights were originally scheduled to meet on December 23, but the fight has been rescheduled

Usyk was in the audience to watch Fury almost falter when put to the test by Francis Ngannou

But ahead of linking up on stage, Fury was full of fire as he crossed paths with Usyk and his camp ahead of time.

‘Sausage!’ Fury shouted down at his opponent from a mezzanine as he spotted the Ukrainian being interviewed.

The insult was soon flung back at him by members of Usyk’s camp, who called up ‘Sausage! Sausage!’ to Fury in response.

‘Usyk’s a sausage,’ Fury continued, with a man in Uysk’s set up compelling the Morecambe-based fighter to ‘come to try it’.

‘Ugly boy. You ugly little man,’ Fury continued to taunt his rival. ‘Ugly little sausage man.’

Fury later told the members of Usyk’s team calling back at him to ‘shut up sausage’ before continuing on his way.

In the build-up to their contest, Fury has frequently referred to his opponent using the moniker ‘sausage’, but hostilities were suspended in Saudi Arabia ahead of Fury’s clash with Ngannou.

But hostilities were briefly suspended in Saudi when the pair shared a hug on the eve of the tie

On the eve of the fight, Fury and Usyk shared a hug after first joking with each other, with Fury saying: ‘Come on then. Hugh it out. Come on, give me a hug brother.’

Afterwards he added: ‘I needed that’.

Whilst fans will have to weight until 2024 to watch their undoubtedly explosive contest, their vacated initial date of December 23 should provide a card of worthy substitutes.

At a press conference in London on Wednesday evening, a ‘Day of Reckoning’ was confirmed to take place in Saudi, with a co-main event of Anthony Joshua versus Otto Wallin, and Deontay Wilder against Joshua Parker.
