Forgotten winger who hasn't played in months lining up dream Tottenham transfer after Saudi move became nightmare | The Sun
JOTA is keen to end his Saudi hell and join old boss Ange Postecoglou at Spurs in January.
But SunSport understands Postecoglou is still mulling over whether the Portuguese winger would be a good fit for the Premier League.
Wideman Jota, 24, shone under Postecoglou at Celtic in the last two seasons, netting 21 goals in 62 league appearances.
That fine form saw him join the gold rush to Saudi Arabia in the summer as he moved for £25million to Al-Ittihad, who also signed Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.
Yet his time in the Middle East has been a nightmare as Al-Ittihad decided not to register him for their squad to compete in the Saudi Pro League.
That was due to the division’s rules that clubs are only allowed eight foreign players in their contingent.

Spurs are among the clubs, along with Wolves, to have shown interest in loaning the Benfica academy graduate when the winter window opens.
Yet Postecoglou is believed to have not yet made his mind up over whether his former charge would suit England’s top flight.
Depleted Tottenham could do with reinforcements in the wide areas given they are currently missing wingers Richarlison, Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic due to injury.
