Doctor’s double life as ‘Imperial Storm Trooper’ who peddled pills on dark web
A doctor has been jailed after getting caught selling drugs using the name of a classic Star Wars character.
Shoaib Ahmad got busted when the cops found drugs sent to a mailbox he rented under a fake name but paid for with his own bank account. And rather comically, he was really into Star Wars and called himself "Imperial Storm Trooper" and "IST" on the dark web, where people can't see who you are.
He made loads of cash, more than £250,000 in just one year, by selling drugs for Bitcoin. The police also found out he was working with another drug dealer from Portsmouth.

Portsmouth-based Marc Ward was arrested in June, 2017. When questioned, he revealed his plans to quit dealing and shared that Ahmad's alias, the Imperial Storm Trooper, would be among those taking over his counterfeit Xanax trade.
After Ward's arrest, Ahmad was caught by French border officers with 46kg of ecstasy tablets worth over 615,000 euros. Ahmad was then jailed for six years in France.
The French authorities tipped off West Midlands Police about Ahmad's arrest. Cops found a stash of drugs and digital devices at his Halesowen home, which linked him to the Imperial Storm Trooper profile and his illegal online drug deals.
Ahmad was extradited from France to the UK in July 2021 and was put on remand awaiting trial. He pleaded guilty in June this year and was jailed last Monday (December 11) for a total of 17 offences relating to possession and intent to supply controlled substances.

Detective Constable Holly Percival from the cyber-crime team said: "To the outside world Shoaib Ahmad was a respected professional and very far from most people's idea of a drug dealer. Behind the scenes however, within the secretive community operating on the dark web, he was heavily involved in selling illegal drugs.
"We are as relentless in our pursuit of those who carry out crimes in cyberspace as we are tackling those who offend on the streets. We have the technical expertise and resource to take on these criminals and we are determined to disrupt the drug trades wherever it takes place. Ahmad's capture is testament to our resolve."
