AN urgent search for an active shooter is underway in Lewiston, Maine after shootings at several locations, according to cops.
Police released several photos of the suspected gunman, who is on the run in Androscoggin County, about 35 miles north of Portland.
At least 22 people have died after the shooter targeted two locations, sources told NBC News.
Residents are being asked to lock their doors and stay off roads as first responders search for the gunman and rush victims to the hospital.
Maine State Police said: "There is an active shooter in Lewiston. We ask people to shelter in place. Please stay inside your home with the doors locked.
"Law enforcement is currently investigating at multiple locations. If you see any suspicious activity or individuals please call 911. Updates to follow."

Police are searching for a white 2013 Subaru Outback, and have also put out a BOLO for a black pickup truck with a black cap.
At least 22 are dead and 30 are wounded after tonight's multiple shootings.

Public schools closed tomorrow
Lewiston Public Schools are closed tomorrow, the district's superintendent said.
"At this time, there will be no activity at Lewiston Schools Thursday October 26, 2023," Superintendent Jake Langlais announced in a statement posted to the district's website.
"There remains a lot of unknowns at this time. Information moves quickly but not always accurately. Please continue to shelter in place or get to safety."
Langlais continued: "We will continue to update you with information and next steps as appropriate. Stay close to your loved ones. Embrace them.
"Our prayers go out to those who lost someone tonight. Our prayers go out to all those working to stop further loss of life. We will provide updates."
