Sex And The City star Kristin Davis opens up about her journey to self acceptance: ‘Finally, I have come to accept and love my body shape’
Sex And The City star Kristin Davis has opened up about how she has finally reached a place of body acceptance and the age of 58.
The actress, best known for playing Charlotte in the iconic series, discussed how her attitude towards her body and exercise has developed with age and she now loves the skin she’s in.
Talking to Woman magazine she said: ‘Finally I have come to accept and love my body shape – so rather than worrying about not being stick thin – I just do things I enjoy like yoga and Pilates.’
Kristin also discussed her part in the discussion surrounding the ageism that exists in Hollywood after she weighed in on the topic.
The star revealed that it was important for her to speak out but that she doesn’t believe the issue relates specifically to Hollywood, and instead effects women everywhere.

‘Women particularly live in a really ageist society and it’s important we only get procedures done if we want to, and not because we feel pressure,’ explained Kristin.
The actress told in an interview with Haute Living back in June that when she started out her career it was ‘literally a place of stick-skinny women with blond hair and blue eyes’.
Playing Charlotte in Sex and the City heightened her negative self image and she experienced a lot of body shaming.
She remembered reading comments like ‘ “Kristin’s hips are bigger than her shoulders,” and I’m like, “But they’re not! And then I’m like, well, who cares? What if they are?” But I mean, it’s just ongoing.’
Giving her advice to women in their 40s and 50s now she said: ‘It’s OK that you don’t look 30 any more – you’re not supposed to!’
The And Just Like that star also opened up about motherhood and how she felt waiting until she was in her mid 40s to have a child was the right decision.
Kristin revealed that before that point she wasn’t in the right place to start a family and doesn’t regret waiting.
The star adopted both her children, Gemma whom she adopted in 2011 and Wilson, whom she adopted in 2018.

The mother-of-two admitted it was hard being away from her kids during the week filming And Just Like That, however Charlotte had been part of her life for almost 25 years so she had to do it.
She said while she would have said no to any other job that meant she had to make the sacrifice of being away from her kids, but she made an exception for this show.
Throughout filming she flew back and forth between New York and California every weekend to be back with her children.
Earlier this year, Kristin revealed that marriage was never something that interested her.
Unlike her famous, wedding-obsessed character Charlotte, the raven-haired beauty has never tied the knot — nor does she want to.
She revealed on Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin’s podcast Best Friend Energy that marriage was just not her ‘thing.’
‘I’m not married. I’ve never been married,’ the And Just Like That…star declared. ‘It was never like a goal, let’s say,’ she added.
She has had some famous relationships, however. The star has romanced Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin and Aaron Sorkin.
