Israel warns it is ready to ‘wipe’ Iran from Earth if Tehran attacks

Israel’s Minister of Economy and Industry Nir Barkat warned Iran his country is ready to “go to the head of the snake”, as fears the conflict between Hamas and Tel Aviv may expand into a regional war grow further.

As clashes between Hezbollah and Israel continue on the northern border of the country, Mr Barkat said Tel Aviv is ready not just to have the terror group and Lebanon “pay a heavy price” should it believe they are opening a northern front, but also to “go after the heads of Iran”.

Speaking with the Mail on Sunday, the Israeli minister said: “The plan of Iran is to attack Israel on all fronts. If we find they intend to target Israel, we will not just retaliate to those fronts, but we will go to the head of the snake, which is Iran.”

He added: “When will we do that? When we decide. Israel has a very clear message to our enemies. We are saying to them, look what’s happening in Gaza โ€“ you are going to get the same treatment if you attack us. We are going to wipe you off the face of the Earth.”

  • Israel missile attack hits two Syrian airports

An Israeli strike hit the Damascus and Aleppo international airports in Syria, according to Syrian media.

The missile attack was carried out early this morning and killed one civilian worker.

The airports were also forced to close as a consequence of the strike, with scheduled flights to and from Damascus and Aleppo being diverted to the Latakia International Airport.

Israel and Syria never established formal diplomatic relations and Damascus considers Tel Aviv an enemy.

Canada says Israel was not behind hospital attack

The Canadian Forces Intelligence Command carried out an independent analysis of the strike that destroyed the al-Ahli Arab Hospital and killed hundreds of people.

While Hamas and Palestinian authorities blamed Israel, Tel Aviv said a rocket launched by the Palestine Islamic Jihad group, which denied any responsibility, misfired and landed on the hospital.

Canada agreed Israel was not responsible for the destruction of the hospital, with the country’s National Department of Defence saying in a statement: “Analysis conducted independently by the Canadian Forces Intelligence Command indicates with a high degree of confidence that Israel did not strike the al Ahli hospital on 17 October 2023.”
