Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he wants Eritrean migrants involved in violent clashes to be deported
- Remarks come after protests by rival groups of Eritreans left dozens injured
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Eritrean migrants involved in violent clashes in Tel Aviv must be deported immediately.
Yesterday’s remarks came a day after bloody protests by rival groups of Eritreans left dozens of people injured.
Supporters and opponents of the African country’s regime smashed shop windows and police cars, while Israeli riot officers fired tear gas, stun grenades and live rounds.
Mr Netanyahu said in a ministerial meeting: ‘We want harsh measures against the rioters, including the immediate deportation of those who took part.’
He also ordered a plan to remove virtually all of the country’s African migrants.
